McAA Shetland teams to play at MLB All-Star Game Fan Fest. 
You may have heard of the “Futures” All-Star game scheduled to take place during the Major League Baseballs All-Star weekend.  Perhaps however, you overlooked the game to be played by our own   “Future All-Stars,” or should I say, “Future, Future All-Stars.”   On Saturday, July 8, two McCandless Shetland teams will square off at the Major League Baseball Fanfest.  The game starts at
3:00 p.m.   Players and their families will be admitted free of charge to Fanfest for the game.  Players of Shetland age, (5 and 6 as of April 30th), are eligible.  Teams will be selected from eligible players who are interested.  The game will last approximately one hour.  Please address any questions to the Shetland General Managers, Paul Julius and Lance Cummins. 

July 27-30 – Pony 14 Host Area Tournament To kick off July 27. 
The annual PONY baseball Host Area Tournament begins
July 27, 2006 with the winner proceeding directly to the PONY baseball World Series in Washington , PA.   North Allegheny ’s entry coached by Justin Simon will square off against other area teams who qualified by winning their respective region tournaments.  That weekend, there is no better baseball being played at the 14 year-old level than at Vincentian Park .  Come and take a look.  Past winners of the tournament return annually to enjoy the experience.  The complex looks it’s best thanks to all of the hard work to get ready for this showcase.

North Allegheny Palomino to Host Eastern United States Baseball Tournament and Skills Showcase. 

July 21 – Mustang Region Tournament. 
The McCandless Mustang team will host the PONY Region qualifier this year with the winner going on to the East Zone Championship Tournament at
Chesapeake , Virginia .   Tournament play will begin July 21, 22 and 23 at Viincentian - 4.  The team will be managed by Jeff Trettel and will begin tournament play on June 21, 2006 .  In the last two years this team has sported a tournament record of 31 wins and 12 losses and brought home trophies in nearly all of the tournaments it entered. 

August 22 - McCandless Team to Represent United States at Japan Friendship Series
Pony Baseball has selected a team from McCandless to represent the
United States at the 2006 Japan Friendship Series which begins August 22 in Tokyo , Japan . The team of twenty players age thirteen to fifteen will be coached by Justin Simon.  Players will be selected based upon ability from the the tri-state area. Once in Japan , players will be housed with host Japanese families who are affiliated with PONY Baseball Japan .  In addition to playing playing baseball, players will visit Tokyo Disney and take several site seeing tours of Toyko.  Members of the Japan American society will be conducting classes in language and customs.  Fund-raising activities are underway to help defray some of the expenses associated with this trip.  Questions about team membership should be directed to John Evans, Vice-President, McCandless Athletic Association at JCE115@aol.com.   The itinerary can be found at by clicking here at Japan Friendship Series Itinerary.   For a few photos, click here.
